Wedding.

Stood
in a windy car park
dressed
in a revealing kilt
my grandfather stands clutching
to his chest
a struggling chicken.

With its head in his mouth
and its two thin legs tucked under an arm
he is pretending to play
the bagpipes.

Years later, my mother said,
that right after this photo was taken,
my grandfather ate his button-hole
(a carnation)

and the hole bus laughted.
FOR THREE DAYS FOR THREE NIGHTS
MAN HELD AT KNIFE POINT
TOLD TERRIBLE KNOCK KNOCK JOKES.
